Apple addresses two actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities with security updates for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS

Apple has made security updates available for Macs, iPads, and iPhones to guard against two flaws that the company claims are actively being used to hack people.

The software updates, iOS and iPadOS 17.1.2 and macOS 14.1.2, were released by the tech giant in response to a vulnerability that was discovered by security researchers at Google’s Threat Analysis Group, which looks into cyberattacks with government support.

In the updates carried out Thursday, Apple said it fixed two weaknesses in WebKit, the program motor that powers Safari and other applications. The weaknesses take into consideration programmers to remotely establish malignant code, like spyware, on the individual’s gadget over the web. The bug is known as a “zero-day” on the grounds that the merchant is given no time, or zero days, to fix the weakness before it is effectively taken advantage of.
