Frieha Altaf is eager to play an ‘evil’ character in web-series ‘Dai’

Published

on

Frieha Altaf has ventured into the world of web-series with Dai on UrduFlix and she was unable to be more joyful.

This isn’t the first time the former model and recent event management guru has acted yet this time, there’s a challenge. This is Altaf’s first lead role and she’s playing a self-described evil character.

“It’s a dark character,” she told Images, “but there are many sides to her.” Her softer side comes out during her involvement with an SHO, who is a younger man, said Altaf and the bad side comes out when she performs illegal abortions and enjoys it. “She’s almost a serial killer,” she said.

The third side of her, the cursing and violent one, is displayed to her workers. Altaf trusts Dai, the titular character she’s playing, is right around an actor in a role.

Up until this point, she’s having a fun on set. “Everything was a surprise. I don’t know anyone else here,” she said.

What then, at that point made her say yes to the project? “I’ve played a mother in two films and played myself in two others,” she said, referring to her cameos. “I’ve said I won’t do that again. I don’t mind doing a cameo but if I get a role I wanted to do a jhalli [crazy woman] or I’m very good at comedy, so that,” she said.

“I’ve been doing my business for so long [that] it’s boring, it’s nice to have a change.”

Altaf needed somebody to request that she play a village woman. “There’s the challenge,” she said. “There’s no challenge in playing a fashion diva, which is me.”

What’s more, Dai is very a long way from the Frieha Altaf we as a whole know. She wears gold bangles, something Altaf doesn’t, and altogether different clothes. “I don’t wear these kind of clothes and had them made from Zainab Chotani,” she explained.

For Altaf, quite possibly the most interesting things about the personality of Dai is the means by which malicious she is. “She wears red lipstick when she’s getting ready to perform an abortion,” she explained, adding that she’s an evil character.

She thought being in a web-series is a greatly improved encounter than a TV series or a film. “I wanted to do this [because] a web-series is reality and you can work freely. You can show the truth and I believe in the truth,” she said.

“I’m not saying films don’t show the truth but films that do are often banned, as you know, so what’s the point? So if we now have this medium, I’m telling everyone that since the pandemic has started I’ve been married to Netflix, literally married, because I spend five hours a day watching everything,” she said.

“So I find that very refreshing. I don’t watch shows just in English but in Spanish and Turkish and different languages,” she said. “I want to see what the world is doing, this is a global game now and being on an OTT channel is global. You’re not limited to just the audience in Pakistan.”

So it’s significantly more refreshing, much more free and I need to accomplish something also, she said. “I’m learning, everyday.”

The series is expected to be released in July, as per Altaf, and if UrduFlix asks her to, she’ll effectively launch the project.

Star of A Christmas Story, Peter Billingsley, resolves the controversy surrounding Die Hard holiday films

Star of “A Christmas Story,” Peter Billingsley, is putting up a strong argument in the age-old argument over whether or not “Die Hard” qualifies as a Christmas film.

His reasoning was so strong that he was able to persuade “Die Hard” cinematographer Jan de Bont, who wasn’t entirely convinced that the action film starring Bruce Willis is a holiday classic despite its mid-summer release date.

“Can we have a healthy debate? Can we make the argument to you of why it’s a Christmas movie?” Billingsley proposed to de Bont on a recent episode of his podcast “A Cinematic Christmas Journey.”

He continues, saying that the movie’s main setting is a Christmas party and that “production design put Santas everywhere.” Of course, there’s the scene where Willis’s character John McClane “decorates the dead body and puts it into an elevator,” which Billingsley refers to as the “iconic ‘ho ho ho’ moment.”

“But I’ll leave you with this,” Billingsley told de Bont. “Most importantly, I think it embodies the themes of Christmas of acceptance, forgiveness, love and family.”

With a nod of approval, de Bont smiles and says, “Okay, I’m sold now.”

In a video that Billingsley and his co-host Steve Byrne shared on Instagram, they can be seen grinning and laughing as de Bont concedes their disagreement.

“Die Hard,” which starred Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, and the late Alan Rickman, debuted in July 1988. It tells the story of a New York City police officer who tries to rescue hostages who are kidnapped by terrorists on Christmas eve at a party.

Willis, on the other hand, views “Die Hard” as a very different kind of film.

“Die Hard is not a Christmas movie!” He proclaimed during his 2018 Comedy Central Roast. “It’s a Bruce Willis movie, so yippee-ki-yay… and good night!”
