From Sleeping in His Truck to Making Six-Figures: Brandon Odom’s Story

What was a major challenge you had to overcome in getting to where you are today?

I left the military with no job and no income lined up. I had no debt and a good amount of cash saved from a few deployments, and I was pretty confident that my business would grow quickly. Not only did it not grow–I sunk $20K into it without much in return, then spent the rest of my cash on an investment opportunity that turned out to be a scam. I lost everything. I cashed out the rest of my investments and maxed out credit cards getting my next business off the ground. I ended up living out of my truck for 6 or 7 weeks and used the free WiFi at coffee shops until I made enough money for rent.

What drives you to keep going each day?

At this point, I’m responsible for more than just my income. My partners, employees, affiliates and customers are counting on what I do to pay their bills and keep their own lives afloat. It can be stressful, but this year I’ve been working on putting more systems in place to take the stress off and remove me as a bottleneck. I want us all to grow further and provide an even better level of service.

How do you maintain work-life balance?

I’ve been working on consolidating my life and turning down opportunities that would add more stress. My initial plan was to live the “laptop lifestyle” but now I’m an actual entrepreneur. Now, I want to shift more to simply business ownership and affiliate campaigns instead of running operations. In the next six months, my goal is to only work Monday-Wednesday most weeks with at least 1 full week vacation every 2 months.
