Kristen Bell joins Allison Janney and Ben Platt to star in ‘The People We Hate at the Wedding’

Kristen Bell is joining Allison Janney and Ben Platt to star in The People We Hate at the Wedding, a comedy that sees Amazon Studios partnering with FilmNation to produce.

Adjusting the novel by Grant Ginder, the parody will be directed by Claire Scanlon and has a content by Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Wendy Molyneux, who are known for their Emmy-winning work on animation series Bob’s Burgers.

The story centers on a couple of battling American kin, Alice (Bell) and Paul (Platt), who hesitantly consent to go to the wedding of their alienated, well off stepsister in the English field close by their mom, Donna (Janney). Throughout the wedding week, the family’s numerous skeletons are torqued from the storage room, and the impossible gathering gives everybody the inspiration to push their own lives ahead.

The organizations consider this to be a cutting edge wedding satire with broad appeal, hitting anybody with a somewhat broken family or any individual who’s been compelled to go to a wedding they attempted to stay away from (which they trust is basically everybody).

Principal photography is expected to start September in London. Ashley Fox of FilmNation Entertainment and Margot Hand are producing.

The comedy expands the run of ventures on which Amazon and FilmNation have joined. The past motion pictures incorporate comedies The Big Sick and Late Night, just as the current year’s YA sentiment, The Map of Tiny Perfect Things.

Chime, repped by CAA and Schreck Rose, is falling off of four periods of NBC comedy The Good Place, which gathered Emmy nominations just as a Peabody Award. The actress, who is notable for voicing Anna in Frozen, is the narrator in HBO Max’s recently rebooted Gossip Girl and next stars with Kirby Howell-Baptiste in Queenpins, a STX that opens in theaters Sept. 10.

UTA Independent Film Group made the deal on behalf of the filmmakers.
