PUBG Lite is officially closing at 29th April

There are a few various versions of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds — the game that advocated the battle royale genre and inspired a legion of competitors — which you can play on everything from your underpowered phone to your high-end gaming rig. Toward the finish of April, in any case, the list will be one entry shorter: PUBG Lite, the free-to-play version of a ultimate life and death fight specced for lower-end machines, is going dim on April 29th. New downloads were closed down on March 30th.

In its note to fans, Krafton, the game’s distributer, didn’t provide a justification the approaching sense of finality. This is what it said in full:

They are profoundly appreciative for the energy and backing from the astounding number of PUBG LITE fans that have been with us. During the strenuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we trust that PUBG LITE had the option to give our fans a fun way to remain safe.

Sadly, they have settled on the difficult decision to close service after much deliberation and the opportunity has arrived for our journey to end. They regretfully advise you that help of PUBG LITE is booked to end on April 29th, 2021 (UTC).

News on the closure came after the publisher’s declaration last November that PUBG Lite was going fully free-to-play, subsequent to ditching its in-game currency system. The game was dispatched in beta in January 2019 in Thailand, and it moved to Europe in October of that very year. Goodnight, sweet prince. Goodnight, sweet ultimate life and death fight.
