Sony is closing down Knack and ‘The Last Guardian’ developer Japan Studio

The organization hasn’t been reestablishing the agreements of large numbers of the studio’s workers.

Sony is reportedly closing down its most seasoned in-house designer. As per VGC, the organization hasn’t been recharging the agreements of large numbers of the workers at Japan Studio. The engineer is most popular for its work on establishments like Gravity Rush, Ape Escape and Knack. The Last Guardian and the new Demon’s Souls remake.

A few pieces of the studio, including the group that chips away at Sony’s Astro Bot establishment, will keep on working for the organization, yet by its hints, Sony has headed out in different directions with the vast majority of the other staff.

Ongoing tweets from a few group who worked at the studio seem to substantiate VGC’s revealing. The move comes after a few noticeable workers, including Gravity Rush and Silent Hill chief Teruyuki Toriyama, left the organization toward the end of last year. We’ve contacted Sony for input, and we’ll refresh this article when they hear back from the organization.

VGC proposes Sony’s choice to close Japan Studio originates from the reality the designer hasn’t been beneficial as of late. In November, lately large numbers of Sony Japan’s advancement groups had been scaled down. As per the distribution, the inclination at Sony Interactive Entertainment’s US division was that the organization didn’t require games that “only do well in Japan.”

Sony has affirmed that it’s reorganizing Japan Studio. “In an effort to further strengthen business operations, SIE can confirm PlayStation Studios JAPAN Studio will be re-organized into a new organization on April 1,” a spokesperson for the company told Engadget. “JAPAN Studio will be re-centered to Team ASOBI, the creative team behind Astro’s PLAYROOM, allowing the team to focus on a single vision and build on the popularity of Astro’s PLAYROOM.” The company added that it will concentrate the majority of its localization, IP management and external production efforts within its PlayStation Studios brand.
