The Prime Minister Narendra Modi pays tribute to Mangal Pandey

Mangal Pandey, a sepoy in the British East India Company defied the British in 1857. He is credited for shooting the primary shot of what is known as the main conflict of Independence. He was executed around the same time.

Pandey, a sepoy, had defied his British officers in 1857, triggering a wave of uprising in what came to be regarded by many as India’s most memorable conflict of Independence before the colonial rulers managed to quell it. Born in Uttar Pradesh in 1827, he was executed by the British in 1857.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tributes for Mangal Pandey, who fired the first shot of the 1857 conflict of Independence.

“The great Mangal Pandey is inseparable from courage and determination. He touched off the spark of patriotism at an exceptionally basic time of our set of experiences and motivated innumerable people. Recalling that him on his birth anniversary. Had paid recognitions for his sculpture in Meerut recently,” Modi tweeted, sharing an image of him paying tributes to the freedom fighter.

“My tributes to the valiant freedom fighter, Mangal Pandey on his birth anniversary. He spearheaded the 1857 sepoy rebellion contrary to unfair British rule and roused numerous to join the freedom struggle. He will continuously be associated with his priceless job in India’s freedom movement,”| Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu tweeted.

Home minister Amit Shah likewise honored Mangal Pandey, tweeting, “Mangal Pandey ingrained the soul of battling against the British among people of India. His supreme sacrifice shook India and established the foundation of freedom struggle. I honor the freedom fighter,” he tweeted.
