Travis Kelce of the Chiefs will not play against the Lions because of a knee injury

Due to a hyperextended knee, Travis Kelce will not play for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL season opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.

The Bosses assigned Kelce as problematic on their last injury report of the week. That gave them some time to decide, but in the end, they said Kelce was one of their players who were not playing in the game.

Tuesday’s practice resulted in Kelce’s injury. Since his rookie season in 2013, he has only missed three games due to injury. He missed two games when the Bosses rested a significant number of their starters and one of every 2021 when he had Coronavirus.

The Bosses have two other tight finishes on their dynamic list, Noah Dark and Blake Chime. Last season, Gray caught 28 passes and scored a touchdown. With a hip flexor injury, Bell missed the majority of the year, but in eight NFL seasons with five teams, he has 60 catches and one touchdown.

Matt Bushman, who had been on their practice squad, was also called up by the Chiefs, and he might be available to play against the Lions.

Last season, Kelce caught 110 passes for a career-high 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards in seven straight seasons.
