X Introduces Updates for its Developer API

New top-up packs for the developer API program were introduced by Social network X (previously known as Twitter) on Tuesday. If developers reach the cap on their current tier halfway through the month, these paid upgrades will enable them to retrieve approximately 10,000 posts for $100.

Elon Musk limited the availability of the free API last year and unveiled new paid tiers, the entry-level of which cost $100 per month. A $5,000 monthly Pro tier with higher limits was released later in the year by the company.

Developers who reached the monthly limit, however, were unable to retrieve additional tweets. They had to move up to a more expensive tier or endure it.

The social network announced that the quantity of upgrades developers can buy is likewise limited with the new top-up launch. The monthly top-up limit for developers with basic tier is 10, and the monthly top-up limit for developers with pro tier is 5.

A lot of tools, like Tracy Chou’s Block Party, have shifted their focus to other social platforms as a result of X’s API changes, which had a significant impact on the third-party developer ecosystem.

The company’s changes to its API guidelines also affected researchers’ access to and capacity to analyze the data on the platform. The EU’s Digital Services (DSA) regulations, however, required the business to grant access to researchers in the region.
