‘Prodigal Son’ cancelled after two seasons by Fox

Fox has opted not to reestablish show Prodigal Son for a third season. It is unclear yet whether leading studio Warner Bros TV would be shopping the series elsewhere. Kin streamer HBO Max, which has past seasons of Prodigal Son, would be an logical destination for the serialized serial killer drama.

Sophomore Prodigal Son, co-produced by Fox Entertainment, was a true bubble show. It was the last Fox drama to get a reestablishment a year ago, a move that didn’t come until after the upfronts, and it boiled last second again for the series. It was liked creatively at the network, and there was a will to attempt to discover a way to bring the series back, with different scenarios explored.

Its linear ratings were really unobtrusive — Prodigal Son was the lowest-rated among the current Fox drama series — however it has been doing great in digital viewing. The leftover three Fox show series, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star and The Resident, are relied upon to be renewed.

Prodigal Son had a strange — and challenging — production schedule stemming from the projecting of Michael Sheen, which had been an impediment all through the show’s run. Be that as it may, the show had the option to work around it for two seasons while attracting in large names for season-long bends, most as of late Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The series’ Season 2 cast included Sheen, Tom Payne, Bellamy Young, Lou Diamond Phillips, Zeta-Jones, Halston Sage, Aurora Perrineau, Frank Harts, Keiko Agena. The arrangement was leader delivered by co-makers Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver just as Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

The cancellation for Prodigal Son comes as Fox got four new drama series for next season — Monarch, The Big Leap, Our Kind of People and The Cleaning Lady — up from two last season.
