Shopify, a platform for online commerce, is introducing new features for its Winter Edition rollout. These features include an AI-powered media editor to improve product photos, enhanced semantic search, and an easier way for retailers to display numerous product versions.

Since last year, a number of businesses, such as Meta, Google, and Amazon, have permitted advertisers to create backgrounds using generative AI. Likewise, Shopify hopes to use this technology to assist retailers in altering the backdrops and settings of their product photos. Merchants can choose from seven different styles in the Magic Media Editor: Minimal, Vibrant, Natural, Urban, Regged, Refined, and Surreal. Alternatively, they can input a prompt to create a new background.

In addition, retailers can preserve brand consistency by matching the background design of one image with an already-existing image. Unwanted backgrounds can also be eliminated from the photographs with this program.

Shopify has already experimented with providing merchants with tools based on generative AI. It introduced the Sidekick bot in June of last year to assist merchants in navigating various sections of the marketplace.

In addition, the business is introducing semantic search, which goes beyond simply matching search query keywords. Customers can inquire for “warm clothes for winter,” for instance, and receive a variety of thermal wear options.

Additionally, Shopify is releasing merchandising capabilities that enable retailers to display several product variations. According to the company, the tool for creating and classifying products allows 2,000 versions based on changes in factors.

During its Snapdragon Summit on Monday, the firm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, which includes a new, second-generation Oryon CPU that it claims is the “fastest mobile CPU in the world.” According to Qualcomm, multimodal generative artificial intelligence characteristics can be supported by the upcoming Snapdragon platform.

Qualcomm, which primarily creates chips for mobile devices running Android, claims that the new Oryon CPU is 44% more power efficient and 45% faster. As the iPhone manufacturer releases its Apple Intelligence capabilities, the new Snapdragon 8 platform may allow smartphone firms compete with Apple on the AI frontier.
